श्वेतः ,धवलः , अर्जुनः - white ; कृष्णः,श्यामः- black ;रक्तः- red; पीतः-yellow;हरितः-green;नीलः-indigo;पाटलः-pink;शोणः-purple;कपिलः-brown,कषायः-yellowish orange
color in Sanskrit is 'varNa' (वर्ण) ; So the saying goes, all of them are looking for सुवर्ण - the poet (looking for good letters/words/sounds), the wanton man (for the fairer complexion, women) and the thief (for gold).
