Happiness has no measuring tape
happiness cannot be poured into a graduating flask.
Neither does it gets embedded on rocks
Nor can anybody inscribe it on Sand...

Yet happiness is overwhelming...It leaves permanent marks whenever and wherever it goes!

My Dearest school Pal got married yesterday. Some excerpts:

  • I remember the day when she told us all in the class that her name, "ADIBA" meant- to light up! Her grandfather named her very lovingly. She was the brightest student of our class indeed. Till Std. 6th, she used to top the charts and no one regretted coming second. In one of our school re-unions, she told us to dress up "Salike se-as ammi suggests" , which made us fall into awe fr her.
  • Her husband is in Defense services, in the Indian Army! Noble and great job, but she wouldn't accept the compliment, saying, what's so great about that, every profession is great in itself! Save her modesty !
  • I wanted to witness whole of her "Nikah" , but got stuck in the jungle, 16 kms away from Latehar, Bus broke down , while coming back from Ranchi. It took me 9 hrs. to complete that 4 hrs. journey. My viral infection has decided to reside for a longer time , I guess. That intolerable pain in Legs and stomach is taking its toll on me. Yet I know, it will pass. Everything disappears one day.
  • Every relative in her family was wearing a similar saree. She was dressed in bright red saree with silver block printed work done on it. That block print is an auspicious stuff, though, it smells , little weird. That color could be fixed, but then she told me that getting all color print washed off in 1st wash is a custom in itself! Every piece of jewellery was traditional, caste out of her mother's gold jewels. Although, she is a very simple girl and none of us could imagine her at all with make-up, yet that simplicity of her out shined every adornment possible. All the time I was there, we couldn't resist and tried to chatter, but she was constantly checked to keep quite. Tough task, that is indeed, sometimes! :) Her Henna-menhdi was awesome and the folk-lore going on in the background equally awesome. All the rituals like mehndi, Sangeet, Haldi and song's lyrics are somewhat similar in all religions. I didn't felt out of place even once. Some of our school teachers were there too. A really touching moment was re-lived indeed.
  • I just wished if any mutual friend could pop in somehow. But then, every one has a different world ....
  • Good change that was, from my Monotony! Nice experience!
